Practing Elegance

I had this long thing where I was going to show off all these really cool dance poses and make a narrative out of it, but as I was re-reading it, I realized I really wanted to talk about the stuff in the pictures.

Sometimes I see something and it’s like the designer reached inside my brain, took out an idea and plopped it on the grid – and sometimes they do it with a whole look. I generally try not to put together a whole outfit from one place (unless it’s a set or a costume or something), but when it seems like it was plucked out of my head, I’m not going to question, I’m just going to wear it! Seriously though, I’m a little worried that Nena Janus has developed mind reading abilities…there is some weird stuff floating around in my head. (Oh, like there’s not weird stuff in everyone’s head.)

Practicing Elegance

Ok, so why am I so excited about this outfit? When I joined Second Life, I didn’t really understand what it was, but I had these visions of a little ballerina avatar dancing across my screen. Dancing is something I have always loved, but for lots of reasons it was something I couldn’t pursue. So, hey, if I could do it in a virtual world, that would be awesome. Long story short, I had a hard time finding anything dance related (ballet or otherwise) that wasn’t… wasn’t what I wanted it to be. Does that make sense? Then I found this really cool store called SPIRIT. It was the first place I had found that had any of the things I was looking for in clothing and poses/animations, and I was SO excited. Since then, a lot more “dancewear” and a ton more dance poses have come out on the grid, and most of it has ended up in my inventory, but SPIRIT is always going to be special.

Perspective

Maybe you just never forget the first creator who reached inside your head?

Blogger Challenge (2): Keeping it Positive

So, today’s topic for the Big Bad Blogger Challenge is to write about three positive things going on in my Second Life. I’m pretty good at finding things to be frustrated about, but things have been going well lately, this should be pretty easy to do.

My friends – I’ve met some great people, who are very understanding about my tendency to get lost in my own world – and who also can pull me out of that world. They’re amazing and have shown me so much in the short time I’ve been in-world (well, almost a year now, but it feels like a short time). I know I’ve been very lucky on the friend-front in Second Life. The first night I logged-in, I met someone who took me around and helped me find a new shape, skin, hair, clothes. He’s not online much anymore, but I will always be grateful for his help.

World Cup fans – The last week has been fantastic with all of the World Cup fans coming out of the woodwork. A lot of my friends (RL and SL) love football like I do, but not many people I interact with in RL even understand the game. It’s great to have so many people to discuss this with in SL, even if we don’t agree all the time.

Bunnehs – A while ago I posted about my bunny obsession, and not much as changed. I love my bunnies like they are real pets. I understand it’s a game, but they’re just so cute! Look at Tyrone, isn’t he adorable?

This is Tyrone

Themeory: 80s-Tastic

So, like so many others, I was super excited when I saw this week’s Project Themeory – I love the 80s!

Intrigue Co. has this fantastic prom dress in the mix:

And, of course, the bodysuits for working out:

Okay, I think sweats make more sense, but this bodysuits would make a gym trip super cute, and look nice even for relaxing in the chair from [what next]. The chair come with three cozy animations (reading, drinking, sitting), which you can see after the cut.
The pic above is my favorite though, I love how the toe of my shoe goes through the cushion. The shots that go “wrong” are usually my favorites.

— I should mention that the toe going through the cushion is due to the shoes used, not the chair. If the shoes were different, the foot wouldn’t be at a point like that and wouldn’t go through the seat.

Style notes at the end. (more…)

Fantasy Faire 2010: Not Over Yet!

The Fantasy Faire ends tonight, but there is still time to go over now and check out the fantastic designers and all that they have available!

For instance… I picked up this beautiful outfit from Evie’s Closet, which is on the Elvencourt sim.  This the the Ariel outfit in Rainbow, which can be found in her Relay for Life vendor!

While upstairs in Evie’s Closet, I noticed she had her Faery outfit available in the special edition that was out for Spring.  This is a special edition available until it isn’t any longer (unfortunately, I don’t have the notecard on exactly how long it will be available).

Go check out Elvencourt and all the 8 other awesome sims of the Fantasy Faire while it’s still going on!
More info can be found at the main sim and at the Fantasy Faire blog.
