Tides

I loved all of the Fantasy Faire sims this year, but my favorite had to be the Tides solely because of personal preferences. It reminds me of Rome – all the marble – and combines it right in the middle of the water… did someone read my mind?

I sat on the benches here and communed with the birds for a bit – it was exactly what I needed.

Okay, last day of the Fantasy Faire – time to finish up that last minute shopping, and picture taking, etc. etc. Just be sure to go, you will be disappointed if you don’t see these sims in (virtual) person. While you’re there… well, you know the drill by now.

Shadow’s Claw

It was a dark and stormy night when the raiders reached the cove at Shadow’s Claw. Their ship hit rocks and they abandoned it in their determination to reach the mountainside before dawn.

Fantasy Faire 2012 - Shadow's Claw

Working their way through the town, they left it undisturbed, for once. Their goal was the keep on the mountain, and they had to reach it before daybreak or their mission would be a failure – provided the legend was true. Better not to take the chance, after all.

Having just passed the gates, it was clear to the defenders that the gods were, indeed on their side. Instead of waking to a battle, they woke to a new set of statues along the path down to the village. Frozen in time, the statues serve as a reminder of what happens to those who try to take this particular keep.

Better to be expedient, after all.*

*Fanciful story not endorsed by the Fantasy Faire… just something I made up wandering around the sim. It’s the kind of place that just begs for a story.

We get an extra day!

Great news! We get an extra day to enjoy the Fantasy Faire – it will be open through Monday, April 30th.

So, while you have the extra day – check out all there is to offer. There’s a radio station, the sims, and so many amazing creators all in one place.

Try the mystical entrance to the Ruins of Nu Orne. What happens next depends on which direction you go from the landing point.

Fantasy Faire 2012 - Ruins of Nu Orne

There’s really only one word I can think of when I look at all of this… lush. I just want to reach out and touch it, and then I want to go exploring.

Shifting Sands

You wander through a sandy maze of shops and stumble on what you think might just be a mirage.  An oasis of sorts. It looks ancient, but clearly someone has been nearby recently.    Only one way to find out – you’ll have to go visit  Shifting Sands.

Fantasy Faire 2012 - Shifting Sands

Another fantastic Fantasy Faire sim!  The attention to detail in the sim design something I always enjoy every year, and this year is no exception.  Going to each, I think… I want to live there. Then going on to the next… no, I want to live there!

Fantasy Faire 2012 - Shifting Sands

Go. Shop. Donate to Relay. For a full list of shops on Shifting Sands, check out the Fantasy Faire blog.

I promise I’ll have a fashion post up soon, but in the meantime, let the sims themselves entice you to the Fantasy Faire.

Meandervale

Regardless of your avatar size, you feel petite when you visit Meandervale. As you can see, it features towering butterfly windmills and oversized fruit, along with charming details like rocking horses in the fenced yards.

It’s easy to imagine living on your own, private, island in a windmill cottage – and how relaxing that seems.

Fantasy Faire 2012 - Meandervale

But it’s not just a beautiful sim, it also has the stores of many talented creators who are part of the Fantasy Faire, and a great view of neighboring sim Jungle Bungle.  For information on which creators are in Meandervale, you can find a full listing on the Fantasy Faire blog.

Why is a raven like a writing desk?

Well? Do you know why a raven is like a writing desk? (someone has to…)

Fantasy Faire 2012 - Jungle Bungle

Jungle Bungle is another Fantasy Faire sim. Here you’ll find overgrown foliage – some of which has started wandering around.

Fantasy Faire 2012 - Jungle Bungle

Speaking of flora – how gorgeous is that entry covering? It’s just dripping flowers (I can’t think of what they’re called right now) – I wanted to reach out and touch them. It’s like a cheerful fantasy – a dream world where overgrowth, color and math come together in a lovely harmony.

Fantasy Faire 2012 - Jungle Bungle

Maybe there’s something wrong with me that I look at this sim and see math. I blame Lewis Carroll – seems like a good plan.

Go. Shop. Spend your lindens in support of Relay for Life. Don’t forget to look around while you’re there!

Devil’s Locket

More Fantasy Faire sim pictures to entice you into visiting.  Here is just one little part of Devil’s Locket

Fantasy Faire 2012 - Devil's Locket

If you look really closely, I think I caught another blogger taking pictures for the Faire.  You can find her blog over here.

The sims themselves are truly spectacular, but you don’t need me to tell you that.

No photo editing (except cropping and resizing), just playing around with windlight.

Fantasy Faire 2012 is Underway!

This year’s Fantasy Faire opened yesterday (Saturday) afternoon and is in full swing.  There are beautiful sims full of designers who each have at least two items set to donate to Relay for Life.

I’ve got a bunch of donation items to show, but first, the sims!

Fantasy Faire 2012 - Siren's Song

Siren’s Song isn’t just beautiful above the water line…

Relay is a cause near and dear to so many of our hearts.  Go visit the Faire, enjoy the artistry and give generously.

For a list of vendors check out the Fantasy Faire website. For the main events area, teleport to the Faire junction.

More Sea Creatures…

I’ve gone completely obsessed with mermaids. Lucky for you, you get to see the products of my obsession! The ones I have for you today are different than your typical mermaids, and that’s a big part of what I find so interesting about them.

Morgaine Price of Mer-Elf Creations created this beautiful Kingyo mermaid as a RFL donation item for the Fantasy Faire. To me, it is part goldfish, part mermaid. I love the detail, and the colors. I also like that you can get a sickly add-on pack which has a tail and scales for a Kingyo that isn’t doing so well. A gentle reminder that all creatures face sickness (at least that’s what I’m seeing, I don’t speak for anyone but myself). There are tons of beautiful things available in the Mer-Elf shop, more pics are on my Flickr in case I don’t get to posting them before the Fantasy Faire ends on Sunday.

Kingyo Sickly Kingyo

Cane Sutter of Skinthesis has these incredible mermaids available at the Fantasy Faire as well. The skin and ears come as a set and are sold separately from the tail and from the eyes, so you can mix and match as you like. Personally, I love how it comes together. The skin is stunningly unique and has an otherworldly feel to it.

In other news, the Fantasy Faire is open through Sunday, April 10th. So, GO and spend your lindens to support Relay for Life!

Fantasy Faire 2011

I was lucky enough to get to blog the Fantasy Faire again this year and one of the things that struck me was how absolutely stunning the sims are. Every time I would teleport into a new location, I would make my roommate come over and look at my screen. Eventually she just sat down – I guess she got a little tired of hearing “You have got to see this!” – but, seriously, you have GOT to come see these builds.

Not convinced? Take a look at these pictures…

And these are all without too many fancy graphics settings!

Go on – and while you’re there, check out the latest and greatest creations from some of the best designers on the grid! (More pics after the cut, and/or on my Flickr.)
