Finally, I’m over being sick (mostly), have been able to get pictures with all of the clothing in focus (thank you SL), and actually liked the way they turned out. I can’t say that there hasn’t been much that has caught my fancy – I’ve done more than my fair share of shopping – but I’ve had the hardest time getting myself to put a whole look together and take pictures. I’ve started to feel guilty for not keeping up with Luna’s blogger challenge, and I wanted to get a bunch done at one time, which I did! (It’s the little things people.) However, instead of spamming you with huge pictures, I just want to show you some of the really really awesome things I found in the process of putting these looks together. And put the picspam nice and small at the bottom – because I can. 🙂
Three things I’ve found in catching up on the blogger challenge? Jewelry, Skins and Boots. Really, what more can a girl ask for? (Don’t answer that.)
I’ve never been much of a consumer of SL jewelry before. Absolutely, there have been some pieces that I just have to have and are amazing, but in general, it’s not one of my go-to shopping categories. Not a little part of that reason is that it’s not one of my real life addictions, so it’s not something I look for to “complete” an outfit. Shoes, on the other hand… are totally different, but that’s another story. Anyway, I put on the silver dress from Zaara, and it just needed something else. So, I searched… and searched… and came across so many things that somehow made their way into my inventory (budget, what budget?), and found the Logo bracelet and earrings, and the Mandala bracelet. Now, I just need to talk these designers into making me one to wear every day (pretty please?). A crazy close-up of these items is on my Flickr, just waiting to be viewed. The non-closeup just doesn’t do them justice.
The skin I first saw in a blogger preview pack from Aikea Rieko of the Plastik. I love her Lionheart skins, and I love her new Ataciara skins as well. Now, I’ve said before that she reads my mind, but this is starting to get scary. On the other hand, it’s also awesome (like 10,000,000 hot dogs awesome*), so I’ll stick with that. Anyway, she dropped her blogger pack on me and I promptly went out and bought a fatpack of my favorite tone, as well as all the elven tones. Why? Because they’re beautifully done and the makeups are amazing. The lips are a little bigger than her Lionheart skins, but they look great. I love that the Freckles come on a separate (tattoo) layer – and are tintable. Very cool (and fewer inventory items – yay!) I’ve used the skins in several of my pics, but you can see a freckled and non-freckled version in sienna, indigo and green.
As for the boots – well, I have a problem with shoes of all sorts, but boots are a special weakness. These leather boots by Mentine (in the silver and green pictures) are exactly what I’ve been looking for – for a long time. My favorite part? Other than everything – is that the fur can be turned off and on. Woo customization!
Of course, I won’t blog something if I don’t really like it, but these three things are new to me, so I wanted to mention them specifically.
All Caught Up (Here are some of the pics that haven’t previously been blogged:
For styling information/credits on the catch-up pics, click on the picture, all the info is listed on my Flickr. Styling credits for the four pics in the main text are listed below. (Although I’ll probably update with all the credits soon.)
It certainly feels like Winter…
…which is good, because Christmas should feel like Winter… well, the version of Winter you get wherever you are in the world. Personally, I grew up in a very warm area, so we were hanging Christmas lights in 75 degree weather, and then bundling up for the 40 degrees it would be after the sun went down. (Ah, the best of both worlds…)
Now, I’m huddled under several blankets after enjoying a lovely RL Christmas with my immediate family, before I head over to the Christmas of Chaos (no, seriously, it’s insanity, but it’s fantastic). In the meantime, while I’m waiting for my clothes to dry, I thought I’d share some of the pics of some of my favorite recent finds/outfits.
When I put on this dress, I thought of Maria – from the Sound of Music – during the ball, when she is dancing in the courtyard. It is so beautifully made by Betty Doyle of Ingenue (as are all of her clothes) that you can tell what the textures should feel like in your hands. I didn’t take this off for a couple of days, trying to find just the way I wanted it styled (and then for a couple of days after because I loved the way it looks).
The outfit is something I put together today for my time with Domhall this afternoon. We spent some time with Cheeky Pea’s snack table – it worked out perfectly for today.
More pictures (if you’re interested) are on my Flickr. I also re-uploaded the pictures from a previous post that had become corrupted, so they should work now too.

Fantasy Faire 2010: Not Over Yet!
The Fantasy Faire ends tonight, but there is still time to go over now and check out the fantastic designers and all that they have available!
For instance… I picked up this beautiful outfit from Evie’s Closet, which is on the Elvencourt sim. This the the Ariel outfit in Rainbow, which can be found in her Relay for Life vendor!
While upstairs in Evie’s Closet, I noticed she had her Faery outfit available in the special edition that was out for Spring. This is a special edition available until it isn’t any longer (unfortunately, I don’t have the notecard on exactly how long it will be available).
Go check out Elvencourt and all the 8 other awesome sims of the Fantasy Faire while it’s still going on!
More info can be found at the main sim and at the Fantasy Faire blog.

For the Love of McQueen Part 3
A few more things in the For the Love of McQueen tribute. Today we have a little bit of everything from wardrobe outfitters, Casa del Shai and Indyra Originals. Each piece is uniquely inspiring, and I had a great time taking all of the pictures.
Regardless of whether you’re dealing with RL or SL, sometimes fashion just speaks to you. Although in SL, it is more likely that fashion might pop up an IM, I was thinking of a more metaphorical speaking. Sometimes it’s as simple as making you smile, sometimes it’s knowing that by putting something on, you (or your avatar) become part of a work of art. In the case of all three designers, they have offered pieces of art and I can’t help but feel the excitement of knowing you’re wearing something special.
Wardrobe outfitters (Aurelia Scarpulla) brings an ethereal element to their Tousled par Tous outfit that is hard to capture in any life. I love the flowers mixed in with the tulle-esque shoulder piece, and the contrast with the simply elegant bodice. When I first put it on, I stared at it for what felt like ages – it was everything I had hoped it would be from the picture I had beforehand. And then I started taking pictures! 🙂
This piece by Casa del Shai (Shai Delacroix) reminds me of something from a modern art gallery. Anyone who knows me in RL knows that I have little love for abstract modern art, but I think I have found a way to change that – just make sure that what I see is like this! To be honest, I was hesitant of the pod-gown, but once I got it on (and found the right hair!), I couldn’t stop looking at it. The detail is incredible, as with all of the pieces in this event, and it definitely evoked a pod – all cocooned in couture.
Indyra Originals (Indyra Seigo) gives us our rock and roll. I will have to remember to take a picture of the back of this outfit because it has an awesome skull on the back of the pink – perfect detail! I can’t say enough about the Sakura du Mort and how incredible it is. Inspired by the cherry blossom, you can see this most literally in the detail of the neckline and the leggings. More abstractly, you can see it in the shape of the outfit, especially the skirt and collar – it’s incredible.
Enough waxing not so poetically about these outfits. I know it sounds like I am saying the same thing about all of them, but (as you can see) they are all very different; however, what makes them the same (and what makes us all the same) is that everything is unique and fabulous! (more…)
