It’s HOT Outside

It’s hot outside, and not in a good way. Don’t get me wrong, I like Summer, or I liked Summer back in the day. I think it was a Wednesday. Anyway, it’s hot and humid, and when things get hot and humid, the only thing you can do is wear as little as possible.

Keep it down...

Luckily, BOOM has that covered.

Tennis Anyone?

It is seriously embarrassing when you’re all ready to go, you’ve got your game face on…

Game Face

and you find out you’re on a football pitch, not a tennis court.

*sigh* At least the outfit is cute?

You Sure..

52 Weeks of Color – Catching Up

Since I’m playing catch up in every other part of my life, it is SO appropriate that I have to catch up on the 52 weeks of color challenge.  So, without further ado, here are my looks for both blue and goldenrod!

Blue Blue Blue Snapshot_342

Now, the goldenrod outfit looks like it has a pretty equal mix of brown and the color of the week in there, but I do have pics on my Flickr without the jacket (following the rules a little closer).  I also have another goldenrod look – I wasn’t going to post it (because I wanted to do something similar when we got to greens), but it made me laugh and I needed that tonight.  I give you… Colonel Mustard! (Which reminds me, I really should play Clue(TM) more often).

I have to say, putting the looks together has been the highlight of my past couple of weeks.  Thanks, Luna for coming up with this challenge!

Halloween at the Plastik!!

When I joined Second Life last year, it was the creativity that I saw in the Fall that made me stay. So many incredible creators that are so vastly different, which gives all of us consumers just that many more ways we can choose to express ourselves as well. Personally, I’m a consumer because I have no talent for creation, but I like to put things together and play around with what other people do. Nothing is limited. Sure, the season you are in probably influences your choices (if you’re into fashion), but dressing up or trying something different isn’t limited to fancy dress parties or any particular day of the year. My next couple of posts are going to show off some of the different things that I have found recently, (yes, that is the point of this blog, so I am being redundant) but fair warning – some of them are likely to be Halloween related for right now. Well, the special items that are out and available for Halloween provided I get to posting in time. (I’m hoping to get more than one done a day.) Then, back to “look at all the cool stuff I found today!”

Anyone who has checked out this blog knows that I’m a HUGE fan of Aikea Rieko, the designer behind the Plastik. So, when I saw her Halloween collection, I knew I had to get my sick self off the couch and in front of a computer (and spend several days making sure I get decent pictures)! Here are some of what she created for 2010 – I’ve barely scratched the surface here, but… there are more pics of her awesome stuff on my Flickr. (You’ll also find full body pics of the skins so you can see the awesome bones/muscles and spiderweb designs.)

Road Trip!

I’m pretty good at getting myself to style an outfit and take pictures, but I’m SO not good at getting those pictures into a blog post!  However, I have some really cool stuff to show you – now would be the time to pay attention…

The Plastik is having a Road Trip sale to help pay for gas while Aikea Rieko takes off around the US to check out what there is out there.  To say I’m jealous can be qualified as the understatement of the year, but let’s set that aside and just say that I hope she has a wonderful time!!! Here are just a few things you can find from the sale:

Boho Prayer - Road Tripping Shredder - Road Trip! Valerian - Road Tripping Road Trips Need Octane
I love the pose from dfo! in the second pic. I crack up every time I look at it.

Right, so, like I said before – the sale is to pay for gas, and because she’s super awesomely creative and can read my mind when I need more Plastik in my life, there’s a sale on a ton of items (79) right in front at the main landing point for Plastik.  Go check it out, and if you want to see some of the other fantastic things on sale – there are more pics on my Flickr.

Taste of a Game (and Taste of Second Life)

Congratulations, Spain! That was an incredible match, and an amazing end to a crazy World Cup.

I’ve been reminded of three critical things over the last several weeks: insanity is most clearly seen on the thick of things, you only need one more goal to win and leadership is key. Also, I was right – this was a World Cup of keepers, especially Iker Casillas who really is almost supernatural. [And Holland plays brutal football…I had thought that was just against Portugal…perhaps they thought they were playing Australian rules?]

Taste of Second Life (TOSL) this week is a tribute to The Beautiful Game, and the favorite games of the designers. The link will take you to the TOSL blog with more information on what everyone has available this weekend. Alexohol Fashions, one of my favorite designers of fan gear (as you have seen before), has put together a sexy fan kit for 14 countries. Each set is 75L for this weekend. Here are some of my favorites:

Country Time - Spain Country Time - England Country Time - Germany Country Time - Australia

Check out how the background only rezzes half of the time!  Textures have been rebaking constantly for me and it took me forever to get any clear pictures – fun times!

I blame the BBC?

I blame the BBC because they make such darn good television.  Merlin, the TV show, came out on DVD a few weeks ago, and the new episodes are on SciFi SyFy, and I can’t stop putting my avatar in period clothing.

Come to think of it, that might very well explain the trend of some of my posts.

The Nyria dress most reminds me of Merlin.

Anyway, I had posted the above and some of others on my Flickr with Styling credits, but I should point out that the Rowena gowns are 50L each at Evie’s Closet and the Chimera dress is available through a lucky dip (it costs 40L per try) in several colors.

Pics of Rowena are after the cut if you don’t feel like heading over to my Flickr page.

Can’t get you out of my head…RFL (2)

Ever have one of those days when you just can’t get the reason why something is important out of your mind? Even more than usual and not just the overall goal, but the personal reasons why it means something to you? That’s been the past few days for me and Relay for Life, which is why I started taking pictures of the four RFL outfits available from Evie’s Closet that are available in the front of the main store in special vendors. Two of the outfits were posted earlier (Elizabeth and Muse II).

The other two items, Avery and Fable, which each have multiple ways they can be worn.  As I’ve said before, versatility is very important as far as I’m concerned – and not just how parts of a set can be worn with different items.  We all know how to do that, but I really like seeing different options within the same outfit for the same reason I don’t mind seeing a few of the same thing from different blogs on the feeds – I love seeing how the same thing can be made to look strikingly different with just a few alterations.

Avery is shown with all of the included options for the outfit: a ballet skirt, a babydoll skirt, and wings.I feel like a Spring fairy in this outfit, and I love the way it fits.  As with all of Evangeline Miles’ creations, the quality and detail of these designs are phenomenal – especially the flowers on the Avery top attachment and shoes.  My rule of thumb is: if it’s from Evie’s Closet and has flowers included, it needs to be in my inventory.

I love the depth of color in the Fable outfit.  Fable comes with the long skirt and ballet skirts shown, as well as a lingerie option (not shown).  The name was the first thing that attracted me to Fable (because the pictures hadn’t rezzed yet and I was mousing over things to try to see what I needed to get a better look at), and I love how appropriate it is to the outfit.  It looks like something straight out of a storybook, and feels much the same when wandering about in the dress in-world.  I like to add wings to the ballet skirt version a lot of the time for an impromptu fairy outfit, or a key attachment to the back for a wind-up doll look. (I’ll be putting those on Flickr soon.)

Relay for Life – Now In-Store!

The outfits in these next couple of posts are from Evie’s Closet, designed by Evangeline Miles – one of my absolutely favorite creators in Second Life, and a very nice person as well (from my brief interactions with her). Four of her Relay for Life (RFL) items that were part of either the Clothing Fair or the Fantasy Faire (or both) originally, and are now available in special RFL kiosks in the front of her main store.

One of the things that I like about the outfits from Evie’s Closet is that the work often speaks for itself, unless I just can’t help myself. On the left is Elizabeth, and on the right is Muse II.  Okay… I can’t help myself.  (You’re welcome to skip my ramblings if you like, the style notes are at the bottom.)

Fantasy Faire 2010: Not Over Yet!

The Fantasy Faire ends tonight, but there is still time to go over now and check out the fantastic designers and all that they have available!

For instance… I picked up this beautiful outfit from Evie’s Closet, which is on the Elvencourt sim.  This the the Ariel outfit in Rainbow, which can be found in her Relay for Life vendor!

While upstairs in Evie’s Closet, I noticed she had her Faery outfit available in the special edition that was out for Spring.  This is a special edition available until it isn’t any longer (unfortunately, I don’t have the notecard on exactly how long it will be available).

Go check out Elvencourt and all the 8 other awesome sims of the Fantasy Faire while it’s still going on!
More info can be found at the main sim and at the Fantasy Faire blog.
