It certainly feels like Winter…

…which is good, because Christmas should feel like Winter… well, the version of Winter you get wherever you are in the world. Personally, I grew up in a very warm area, so we were hanging Christmas lights in 75 degree weather, and then bundling up for the 40 degrees it would be after the sun went down. (Ah, the best of both worlds…)

Now, I’m huddled under several blankets after enjoying a lovely RL Christmas with my immediate family, before I head over to the Christmas of Chaos (no, seriously, it’s insanity, but it’s fantastic). In the meantime, while I’m waiting for my clothes to dry, I thought I’d share some of the pics of some of my favorite recent finds/outfits.

When I put on this dress, I thought of Maria – from the Sound of Music – during the ball, when she is dancing in the courtyard. It is so beautifully made by Betty Doyle of Ingenue (as are all of her clothes) that you can tell what the textures should feel like in your hands. I didn’t take this off for a couple of days, trying to find just the way I wanted it styled (and then for a couple of days after because I loved the way it looks).

Cadeau

The outfit is something I put together today for my time with Domhall this afternoon. We spent some time with Cheeky Pea’s snack table – it worked out perfectly for today.

More pictures (if you’re interested) are on my Flickr. I also re-uploaded the pictures from a previous post that had become corrupted, so they should work now too.

For the Love of… Ice?

Edit: Sorry about the pictures problem. I reuploaded to Flickr, so they should be visible now.

I’m not the biggest fan of ice (that could have something to do with last Winter’s blizzard), but the For the Love of group is putting on Ice Fest right now, that runs until December 26th (so, it runs all day Christmas, but if you don’t get there by then… well, just get there by then).  Most (if not all) of our favorite designers from the For the Love of Science/Fall hunts are included, and have great holiday themed (or Winter colored) items available.

For those of us with more informal holiday gatherings to attend (or just to have something to wear shopping), there are t-shirts that go great with jeans.

Ice Fest - BabyCakes Ice Fest - BabyCakes Ice Fest - it's cake

For those nights that are nice and warm already (I’ve always wanted to spend Christmas in Australia, just as an aside here), there are these tops from KidAsia. They’re actually undershirts, but I think they’re more than cute enough to wear on their own.

Check out Ice Fest before it melts… wow, sorry about that, it was super cheesy.

Last day for the diamond to be yours…

While these past several weeks have pretty much laughed at any plans I might have ever had to actually get anything done, I did have a chance to check out several of the great gifts available in the Diamond is Mine Hunt. Here are just a couple of my favorites:

DIMH - Bubblez and n-creation DIMH - Sassy! DIMH - Apple May Designs

No, the skirt in the first picture doesn’t have holes in it – it has one of the best uses of layers and glow I’ve seen in a while – when it moves, it’s like there are stars in your skirt… in a good way, not in the gee, wouldn’t that be uncomfortable to have actual stars in your skirt kind of way.  You’ll want to click on the pictures to get to my Flickr to see the detail on the bracelet and earrings. There’s also a few more pics there of the stuff you can find.

Themeory: 80s-Tastic

So, like so many others, I was super excited when I saw this week’s Project Themeory – I love the 80s!

Intrigue Co. has this fantastic prom dress in the mix:

And, of course, the bodysuits for working out:

Okay, I think sweats make more sense, but this bodysuits would make a gym trip super cute, and look nice even for relaxing in the chair from [what next]. The chair come with three cozy animations (reading, drinking, sitting), which you can see after the cut.
The pic above is my favorite though, I love how the toe of my shoe goes through the cushion. The shots that go “wrong” are usually my favorites.

— I should mention that the toe going through the cushion is due to the shoes used, not the chair. If the shoes were different, the foot wouldn’t be at a point like that and wouldn’t go through the seat.

Style notes at the end. (more…)

Can’t get you out of my head…RFL (2)

Ever have one of those days when you just can’t get the reason why something is important out of your mind? Even more than usual and not just the overall goal, but the personal reasons why it means something to you? That’s been the past few days for me and Relay for Life, which is why I started taking pictures of the four RFL outfits available from Evie’s Closet that are available in the front of the main store in special vendors. Two of the outfits were posted earlier (Elizabeth and Muse II).

The other two items, Avery and Fable, which each have multiple ways they can be worn.  As I’ve said before, versatility is very important as far as I’m concerned – and not just how parts of a set can be worn with different items.  We all know how to do that, but I really like seeing different options within the same outfit for the same reason I don’t mind seeing a few of the same thing from different blogs on the feeds – I love seeing how the same thing can be made to look strikingly different with just a few alterations.

Avery is shown with all of the included options for the outfit: a ballet skirt, a babydoll skirt, and wings.I feel like a Spring fairy in this outfit, and I love the way it fits.  As with all of Evangeline Miles’ creations, the quality and detail of these designs are phenomenal – especially the flowers on the Avery top attachment and shoes.  My rule of thumb is: if it’s from Evie’s Closet and has flowers included, it needs to be in my inventory.

I love the depth of color in the Fable outfit.  Fable comes with the long skirt and ballet skirts shown, as well as a lingerie option (not shown).  The name was the first thing that attracted me to Fable (because the pictures hadn’t rezzed yet and I was mousing over things to try to see what I needed to get a better look at), and I love how appropriate it is to the outfit.  It looks like something straight out of a storybook, and feels much the same when wandering about in the dress in-world.  I like to add wings to the ballet skirt version a lot of the time for an impromptu fairy outfit, or a key attachment to the back for a wind-up doll look. (I’ll be putting those on Flickr soon.)
